Thanks for Making This Years’ Holland Hundred a Success!

Thanks to all of you who volunteered your time at yesterday’s Holland Hundred. Despite the weather, a record number of participants braved the rains around Holland and Allegan County. Our volunteers along with our event partners made this year’s tour memorable and enjoyable. Thanks so much for your hard work. Looking forward to seeing everyone on the next Monday Night Ride and Sweet Roll where we will celebrate our successful event and share some stories from yesterday. Take care.

Saturday Volunteers Needed for Holland Hundred!

We are still in desperate need of club volunteers for this Saturday’s Holland Hundred. More specifically, we need help with registering participants Saturday morning (starting at 6a.m.) and volunteers to man the registration deck and selling t-shirts during the rest of the day. Please step-up and help the club make this year’s event the best ever. Based on registration so far, we are expecting a record numbers of riders, so we need lots of help to make the event run smoothly.

As an added bonus, volunteers who help on the day of the event and give up riding the HH this year will be treated to a separate group ride later this summer/fall (such as the Colorburst tour), paid for by MCC, as a thank you for sacrificing your Holland Hundred.

Please send me an e-mail or respond to this posting by clicking on the comment link below  if you can help. Thanks.

We Need Volunteers for the Holland Hundred!

As in years past we are in need of MCC members to step up and support the clubs biggest event of the year. Club Meeting This Tuesday Night!

The next MCC club meeting is this Tuesday night. Join us at New Holland Brewery in downtown Holland at 8:00 p.m. This month we will share our plans for the upcoming Holland Hundred Tour and have a “round-table” discussion about group rides. Many members are unsure regarding dos, don’ts, etiquette, and safe riding practices when participating in group rides. It is our hope that veteran riders will share their experience with members who would like to better understand how to ride safely on a group ride. As we are all aware, getting started riding in pace-lines can be very intimidating. It is our hope that through this type of information sharing we can make people more confident and safer cyclists. So come out this Tuesday night and share your group ride questions and experiences with your fellow club members. See you Tuesday night!

Need Volunteers to Help with “Kids Tiny Tri” This Saturday!

The City of Holland Parks & Rec. Department is putting on a “Kids Tiny Tri” on Saturday June 21. Its a triathlon for 8 thru 14 year old kids. 25 yard swim - 1.5 mile bike - 1/2 mile run.The venue is Smallenburg Park. The Bike starts at the pool, goes around the stadium, north on Fairbanks with a turnatound near 8th ave, then back to the pool.

We  need a few good MCC members to volunteer for the event by helping in the transition area, a few marshals on the bike course and turnaround area… etc.  Five or six persons MCC members are needed. Bring your bikes.

Volunteers meet at 8:30 AM this Sat. morning.  First swimmer starts at 9:00.  Should be done by 11:00 or 11:30. Those who would like to volunteer should E-Mail John Nuiver at Holland Cycle & Fitness (jnuiver@juno.com) for specifics.

I know this is real short notice. Any help would be great.

MCC Weekly Rides & Bad Weather

With the recent bout of bad weather, I thought it might be a good time to communicate the club’s policy for when we will cancel any of our weekly rides. It’s pretty simple. If there are any official weather watches or warning issued for Ottawa or Allegan counties an hour before the published ride start times, then consider the ride cancelled for that day. The club will make every attempt to post an official notice on the front page of the website by 5:30pm for the Monday Night Ride (MNR) and by 7:00am for the Sweet Roll ride. Obviously, we don’t want to take any chances when the weather has the potential to turn dangerous. Drop me an e-mail if you have any questions. Safe riding this summer!
