Support Cycling Lanes in Holland, Be at City Hall Tomorrow Night!
To all MCC members.

The City of Holland will be having a meeting to discuss road improvements on 40th street on Wednesday night, 7:00 pm in City Hall.

The City is debating putting in “cycling lanes/wider shoulders” for the section of 40th street between Lincoln Ave. and South Washington.  This work is part of a continuing improvements that have been done to 40th street west of South Michigan Ave.

The City put in very nice painted shoulders for cyclists/pedestrians and while they are not officially “bike lanes” they are a very nice improvement.

Some residents along 40th object to the wider shoulder and see no need for this addition.  Please attend this meeting and give voice to having these painted shoulders added.

This is all late notice, but even showing up and speaking a few words can make the difference.

Wednesday, 7:00 pm, City Hall.

These same improvements were recently done to Country Club road and East 8th street.

MCC St. Patty’s Day Parade, Ride & Party This Saturday!!!

Greeting and top o’ the mornin’ to all ye members of the Macatawa Cycling Club!
Faith ‘n Begorrah if it’s not Saint Patty’s Day that’s comin’ up soon! The parade downtown is coming up this very Saturday and the club once again requests your presence! We plan on participating in the parade and then going for a 25 mile ride. Then it’s back to the pub for refueling and the club is pickin’ up the tab!
Sure ‘n here are the details for ye:

Meet at the Civic Center @ 11:20 for the parade. We’ll be rolling s-l-o-w so be geared and dressed accordingly. The parade will be from noon to 12:45 (approx!)
The “real ride” rolls from VCC after the parade – we’ll do the Sprint Ride Loop.

Then it’s back to New Holland for recovery and fellowship. The club will buy lunch for everyone that rode in the parade! That is correct – lunch is the bribe to get you in the parade! It’s only gonna be cool and fun and worth the effort if there are lots of us. Cruisers, street rigs, trailers, rideable kinetic sculptures and costumes are encouraged! (You can leave that stuff @ the shop during the post-parade ride)

I really hope to see you there! The weather forecast is good and it’d be awesome to have a buncha bikes in the parade. The organizers are trying to work the whole “Green” thing 2 ways by combining the St. Patty’s Day Parade w/ a focus on renewable energy and what’s greener than bikes?
Saturday! Be there!
