Howdy M.C.C. ers!
Our next club meeting is approaching and I wanted to fill you in on the particulars ‘cuz it’d be a shame if you missed out! Our speaker for January is long-time club member Rick Kraai and his topic will be the ins and outs of cross-country skiing. Rick is a serious XC racer and will be covering gear, technique and the advantages that XC skiing offers to us cyclists. There will be snacks and soft drinks courtesy of the club as well. We’ll also be covering some of our plans for the 2009 Holland Hundred as it’s not any too soon to be planning the cornerstone of our season! I hope to see you there!
Date: Monday Jan. 5
Time: 8:00-9:00pm
Place: The conference room @ New Holland Brewery. (Upstairs)
Future meetings will offer speakers on topics like cyclist-specific core training and other topics of interest to cyclists. Remember to let me know if you have any ideas for other topics or speakers, okay?
Rememer that the club’s Board meets @ 6:30 the same evening as the general meeting. As a club member you are always welcome to attend if you have an issue, topic or proposal. (Or just wanna see what goes on!) The odds of getting an assignment are somewhat high however! Not that it’s a bad thing.
This is your club………..you know that, right? Speaking for my fellow Board Members we all got involved to support the club and the sport of cycling in our community. We can’t help make the club what you think it oughta be w/out input from you!
See you next year, have a safe, happy and cycling-filled New Year!

Sunday’s Kisscross race was a huge success! Thanks to all of our members who helped with the race course clearing on Saturday and Sunday. Thanks so much for the big turnout…we really appreciated the help! Our efforts treated fans and spectators to a bunch of muddy, snowy fun at Smallenberg Park. The turnout for the post-race celebration was also big. We packed New Holland Brewery with lots of cyclocross racers and fans. A good time was reportedly had by all. We will be posting photos from the race and party on the club website, so look for them later this week. Thanks again to all of our volunteers who made the race a huge success for the club. Take care and see everyone at next month’s club meeting. Happy Holidays!

In support of this weeks’ kisscross race, we are asking for volunteers to meet at Smallenberg Park at noon tomorrow (Saturday). Please bring along a snow shovel to help clear the race course. Marshall is proving most of the heavy equipment which we hope will perform most of the difficult course clearing, but we will still need your labor to help clear areas where the heavy equipment can’t be used.
We will also need volunteers Sunday to help with the final course set-up. Please meet at the park by 9a.m. Here’s the event schedule for this weekend:
Saturday: Noon-? - Race course design and clearing
Sunday: 9a.m.-11:00a.m. Race course final set-up. 11:00a.m. - First Race!
Following the races, MCC is hosting a post-race celebration at New Holland Brewery for the race participants and spectators. The celebration will begin at 1:30p.m.
See everyone tomorrow, noon at the park!

This Sunday, the club will once again host the final race of the Kisscross cyclocross series. This year, the race will take place at Smallenberg Park in Holland. With all of the snow we have received this weekend (and probably this coming week) we will need lots of help on Saturday afternoon and Sunday morning clearing the race course. Please send me an e-mail if you can help out. Later this week I will post additional details regarding times to meet at the park. Please step-up and help the club with putting on a “first-class” race. Thanks as always for the help.
