MCC Hosted: Kiss Cross Race - December 8th - We need your help!

The Macatawa Cycling Club will once again to hosting the final race of the Kiss Cross Cyclocross race series. The race will take place on December 8th at Ridge Point Church in Holland. We will need volunteers to help with race day activities and volunteers to sign up to contribute a crockpot of your favorite soup, stew, or chili. Please e-mail me, if you are willing to support the race by either volunteering your time or willing to bring a crockpot of food. Let’s make this year’s race better than ever. Thanks as always for your support.

December MCC Meeting: Speaker Alan Becke on “Randonneuring 101″

MCC Monthly Meeting Graphic

Our next monthly club meeting is Tuesday 12/4/2007. Meetings are from 8:00pm-9:00(ish) and are held at the Macatawa Greenway’s new offices.

The new location is at 455 East 8th Street - across from the Hart and Cooley plant in the old grade school, currently Driesenga Assoc. survey company. The Greenway is using one of the old class rooms as offices. Please use the door on the east side of the building off of Walnut street.

The guest speaker will be Alan Becke, He will be letting us know all about “Randonneuring 101″.

Whatinthehell is that?………Randonneuring is basically competitive touring….where riders travel great distances completely self-supported. They ride bikes equipped w/ fenders, lights, racks and loaded w/ gear, doing their own maintenance and sometimes route-finding. The events are called “Brevets” and the grandaddy of ‘em all is the Paris-Brest-Paris, a 1200K (780 mile) event that dates back to 1891. Run in August every 4 years, riders have 90 hours to complete the ride. Alan qualified for this ride in 2007 which means that he is one serious dude!
