November MCC Meeting: Different location and a special guest speaker!

MCC Monthly Meeting Graphic

Our next monthly club meeting is Tuesday 11/6/2007. Meetings are from 8:00pm-9:00(ish). What’s different this month is the location. We’ll be meeting @ the Hope College Exercise Science Laboratory in the Devos Fieldhouse.

The guest speaker will be Kevin Cole, a professor in Hope’s Kinesiology Department and the Head Track and Field Coach. He has Ph.D in Human Bioenergetics from Ball State and has done considerable research on the topics of the aging of Olympic atheletes, the effects of caffeine, sport drink formulation, exercise performance and the effects of weightlessness on the muscle characteristics of space shuttle astronauts. In short… the dude knows his way around the human body! He’s an avid runner and cyclist and “occasional triathlete”.

The program is still being “developed” but more than likely will focus on Anarobic and Aerobic Testing of Athletes. There will likely be a couple of VO2 Max tests adminstered to volunteers and various other tests and then a discussion of the results and how regular riders can use them.

Don’t miss it!
