Sweet Roll Ride - Canceled July 14th and July 21st

July 14th - With all of the last minute preparations for this year’s Holland Hundred, we have decided to cancel this weeks “Sweet Roll” ride.

So if you’re not planning on doing your own route tomorrow, I would encourage MCC members to consider helping out with the Route marking effort going on tomorrow morning.  The effort will be lead by Mike Clark and volunteers will be meeting in the Holland Christian High school parking lot at 8:00am.

July 21st - Obviously with the Holland Hundred taking place on the 21st, the Sweet Roll ride will not be rolling.

The Sweet Roll Ride will return to its normal Saturday morning schedule on July 28th.

Holland Hundred: VOLUNTEERS needed

Holland Hundred Bicycle Tour

Calling all MCC members!!
Our big day draws near – the Holland Hundred is Saturday, July 21st.  So many of the nitty gritty details have been nailed down. The t-shirts are ordered, if not in already… the food people are expecting us, anxiously awaiting our final estimate… the facilities are lined up and ready to be open for business… registrations are jamming our virtual and real mail boxes…

To pull this off in these final days, we need all hands on deck.  THAT MEANS YOU!!!  Here is a breakdown of where bodies are needed, approximate time commitments and duties.  If you can help out in any way, please do so.

Route Marking:
The bulk of this work will be done this coming Saturday, July 14th.  Mike Clark is in charge of organizing and coordinating multiple crews who will be spanning the course to mark the routes.  Six or so members have already stepped up for this monumentally important, make or break the whole tour, job.  Seriously, one of the best ways to make the tour go smoothly is to have a well-marked course.

What: Route Marking
When:
July 14 - 8:00am
Where: Holland Christian High School
How long: Until it’s done.  You can count on 3-4 hours (at least).  A few were on the course twice that last year…
Contact: Mike Clark, Velo City Cycles

Packet Stuffing:
We’ll be putting together swag bags with wristbands and goodies for all riders – ~1200 bags need to be assembled!!!  We need a small army for an efficient and swift execution of the task.  And guess what – no alphabetizing this year!!!  I already have a few names and will be sending out an email shortly to those individuals.  But the more the merrier for this one!!

What: Packet Stuffing
When:
 Tuesday, July 17th - 7:00pm
Where: Cross Country Cycles, on Douglas Ave.
How long: Until it’s done J.  Plan on 2 hours.
Contact: Krisanne Chapin

Friday night, packet pickup, t-shirt sales & registration
Riders will come… new registrants with money… pre-registrants looking for their packets… everyone hoping to buy t-shirts… last year was our first with this early packet pickup, and it was popular.

What: Friday Night Packet Pickup, T-Shirt Sales & Registration
When:
Friday, July 20th - 4:00-9:00pm
Where: Cross Country Cycles, on Douglas Ave.
How long:  It would be great to have a couple of shifts of 2-3 hours.  Let’s try for 4-7p and 7-10p, so let me know when you can start and finish.  After the registration is over, everything needs to be packed up and brought to the high school for our early a.m. start on Saturday.  Second shifters, maybe starting around 7p, should plan on participating with that process.

Saturday morning, packet pickup, t-shirt sales & registration
Riders will come… wow, will they come… we need an army.  Multiple people will be taking names from pre-registered riders, handing out packets; other volunteers will be needed to take money and help day-of registrants get organized (they also get packets); t-shirt sales will be going on, so we’ll need a few bodies there taking money, etc.

What: Saturday Morning Packet Pickup, T-Shirt Sales & Registration
When:
Saturday, July 21st - 6:30am-10:00am,
Where: Holland Christian High School
How long:  We need everyone, for as long as possible.  If you intend to ride, take an early shift until 8 or 9a and then take off… please.  Registration typically slows to a trickle by 10a or so and we can thin the crew accordingly.

Saturday at the school
We need a couple of bodies at the school at all times to answer questions, help with SAG support communication.

What: Saturday at the School - General Support
When:
Saturday, July 21st - 6.30am-5:00pm,
Where: Holland Christian High School
How long:  If you can donate a couple hours that would be great.  A few board members will be there most of the day, but it will make it more interesting for them/us if we have fresh blood coming by to change conversation or guard the money during a bathroom or food break 8-)
