MCC Monday Night Ride to return April 9, 2007!

Mondya Night RidePlease join us for the premier weekly cycling event in Holland - The MCC MONDAY NIGHT RIDE.  The Monday Night Ride (MNR) continues for another year in 2007 and begins on April 9th, 2007.

Where:
Holland Aquatic Center 24th Street and Maple Ave.

When:
April through October 2007

Monday Night Ride start time:
April - 6:00 pm
May through September - 6:30 pm
October - 6:00 pm

Route:
A group rider’s (21+ average ) ~40 miles around Hutchins Lake
B group rider’s (18+ average) ~35 miles turn-off at 126th Ave.
C group rider’s:  A C group ride will be evaluated as the cycling season develops to see if we have enough interest and numbers to support a C group.

Holidays:
When Holidays fall on Monday; Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day.  The MNR will be held in the MORNING at 8:00 am.  Same routes, same groups.

Weather:
MCC does not have a cancellation policy for the MNR.  All participants decide whether to ride based upon current conditions at the time of the ride.

Important change for non-MCC members joining us on Monday nights:
NON-MCC members will be required to sign a waiver BEFORE riding on the Monday Night Ride.  Members of MCC do not have to sign this waiver (an annual waiver is part of our membership application).  While this is an inconvenience for all parties, it is needed for the protection of the club and all riders in the litigious society we live in.  Many cyclists who attend the Monday Night Ride are not members of the club, and this waiver is not meant to discourage participation, but we ask all who are not members to please sign in each week upon arrival.

Sorry for the n00b question, but what do the 18+ and 21+ numbers mean above? Are those the typical speeds on those rides?

I posted a question here a while back. I realize it was a n00b question, but it was never posted and I got no response. Are the numbers listed above (21+ and 18+ average) average speeds on the rides? TIA

Jeff -

Sorry for the lack of replies. Your posts got held up in the moderation queue and were mixed in with several hundred SPAM comments.

I think Chris D. has now answered your question in the forums. As a reference you could view my own online bike log at http://www.kuite.com/bikelog/ and look down through the different Monday Night rides from last year. I rode mainly with the B group but occasionally would start with the A group and ride out to BK in Saugatuck and wait for the B group from there.

The Tuesday Night Velo City Road ride might be a good place to start if you are a bit leary of the Monday night speeds without a C group.

The Tuesday Night rides are also listed in my Bike log (where you can reference the pace) and are an excellent local ride.
