Welcome to the new MCC Website!  You first comment is likely that it looks pretty much the same as the old site and we agree completely and that was by design.  However, a lot behind the scenes has changed.

The site has moved from statically produced HTML pages to running on a common open source publishing product called Wordpress.  This will allow fellow club members to easily post notices to the front page of the website (like this one) without needing to know and understand HTML markup. This will allow multiple club members to administer the site and communicate to other members in a more timely fashion.

The separate Holland Hundred website is now under the main MCC website and the separate HollandHundred.com domain will eventually be redirected into the new site.  This change is to better recognize the club as the main promoter of the event and collectively strengthen both the MCC  and Holland Hundred names, plus we’ll save a little money in webhosting costs for two separate websites.  The Holland Hundred site will continue to be developed and expanded over the coming weeks.

For your real geeks out there, the club website is now supports RSS (Real Simple Syndication). You can add RSS links to the site inside web browsers that support them or point your RSS reader to http://www.macatawacyclingclub.org/feed/.

Further enhancements are also planned.  I’m working on a Photo Gallery application to allow Club Members to upload photos for sharing within the site.  We are also looking at Announcement lists (that Club members could subscribe) to announce Club news, Club Ride information and Ride cancelations directly via email versus requiring a club member to come to the site for the latest news.
